Our mission: to coordinate and amplify the voice of French waste sector stakeholders in order to advocate in Europe and internationally for the prevention, collection, treatment and recovery of the resources present in waste.
Increasing volumes
Today, 2 billion tonnes of municipal waste are produced every year. This is expected to rise to 3.4 billion tonnes per year by 2050, an increase of 19% in high-income countries and over 40% in low- and middle-income countries.
A negative impact on health and nature
Over 33% of the world’s municipal waste is not managed in an environmentally safe way
Hard-to-finance costs
Waste management accounts for 20% of municipal budgets in low-income countries, and 4% in high-income countries.
